World Refrigeration Day 2025 – Technology, Climate Action and an Industry Progressing into the Future.

By |Published On: 2025-06-23|

June 26th marks World Refrigeration Day 2025, a day to recognise the technology that enables life as we know it.

From keeping indoor climates comfortable and food fresh, to enabling industrial processes and scientific research in many areas thanks to the ability to maintain temperature, makes HVACR systems essential to our modern world.

At ClimaCheck, we’re proud to be part of a global industry that is crucial in all our lives and they play a key role in reaching environmental goals.

However, to reach the full potential there is still a lot to do. The traditional way of working with HVACR systems is often reactive and done “too late”. This creates a “hidden” potential and based on thousands of analysed systems, we can conclude that it is often possible to save 10-30% of the energy consumption and increase reliability.

To highlight the potential in the industry you can read more about the progress and potential we have seen and done recently.

A Year of Progress in HVACR Efficiency

Over the past year, we’ve seen increased focus on digitalisation, benchmarking, data-driven decision making and Explainable AI in the HVACR sector. At ClimaCheck, we’ve continuously contributed to this transformation through several key initiatives:

  • Together with dena, we’ve advanced Energy Performance Indicator (EnPI) benchmarking, creating new opportunities to compare and optimise system performance. 17% savings were also achieved. Read more
  • Our work with Digital Twins and Explainable AI is accelerating. By building models that reflect the actual efficiency of HVACR systems based on the ClimaCheck method. More work can be done proactively instead after a breakdown. As this helps both contractors and equipment owners to understand not just that something is wrong, but why, fixing problems is easier than ever for skilled technicians. Read more about Explainable AI and Digitals Twins.
  • We have also seen how UNEP is recognising that digitalisation is a crucial key to sustainable cooling. Together with UNEP we have arranged trainings, seminars and workshops to support the development of sustainable cooling strategies through digital tools and transparent performance analysis. HVACR’s Role in Climate and Energy

It’s no secret that HVACR systems are responsible for a significant share of global electricity use, over 20% leading to a large CO2 emission globally. As energy grids are strained and the climate crisis intensifies, energy efficiency is no longer optional. It’s essential.

At ClimaCheck, our mission remains the same: to ensure that cooling and heating systems operate as efficiently as possible, every day. With real-time performance analysis, we help identify inefficiencies before they become costly breakdowns, improving reliability, reducing emissions, and extending equipment life.

A Moment to Reflect and Act

This World Refrigeration Day, let’s recognise the critical role of refrigeration and air conditioning as well as all the professionals working to make these systems better.

Let’s also take the opportunity to reflect on how digitalisation is unlocking new potential to take the whole HVACR industry to a new level when it comes to sustainability, efficiency, and the work it will take to get there.

At ClimaCheck, we remain committed to supporting a more efficient, digital and sustainable HVACR industry, not just today, but every day. If you want to take your HVACR system in to industry 4.0, contact us here.

Happy World Refrigeration Day 2025!
